Best way to remove and replace neck bearing race?
Talking about the bottom one here. Replacing the race with one that has a built in tang for a hidden fork stop kit.
My guess is a dremel and cutoff wheel to cut through most of the old race and a cold chisel to finish it, but what about installing the new one?
I thought I might put the new race in the freezer over night, and maybe use threaded rod and a stack of tough washers on each end, then crank a nut down to pull it together.
Beyond taking the frame to an indie or the dealer, what would you suggest? I don't have an arbor press, and even if I did it would be difficult to do as the motor is still installed, making it heavy and awkward to try and maneuver into position.
thoughts?
