Default I'm STUPID...Don't make this mistake!!!

I went to take the Quiet baffles out of my pipes and F*&#D up REAL GOOD!

The Fiberglass got caught and the baffles won't come out. After about an hour of basically DESTROYING the Baffles they won't BUDGE! If that wasn't enough I screwed up the end of the pipe as well.
A VERY EXPENSIVE MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crap. Not a good day.

Try warming them up and see if it makes a difference. Don't feel too bad as most my chrome replacement parts are the result of screwing up the stock ones. Soon my whole bike will be chrome.

Are they the stock ones?
If they are and you liked them, I'm sure there are plenty of take-off available.
I have a set for a 99 FXD.

Did you take the pipes off the bike first? I don't remember what pipes you've got though.... Since the 'glass is wrapped on, you may need to provide some twisting motion to get them out. Although right off the top of my head, I'm not sure what you're going to grab to twist them.....

If the fiberglass has the baffle jammed, you may need to push the baffle back into the muffler just a bit to release the wrap. However if you've already damaged them, you may be better off to tack weld a small u-bolt to the inside of the baffle to give you something to twist and pull at the same time.

I know when I installed mine, I twisted them going in because of the direction of the fiberglass wrap on the outside. Made it a lot easier. Might help in coming out... sorry out of ideas now....

try screwing in the mount bolt(preferably a longer one that fits) from the inside then use vice grips to grab bolt so you can twist out the baffle. Better even... if freezer is large enough, freeze the pipe for an hour. Take a blow dryer to outside of pipe to warm up(just for a minute or so). the baffle will remain frozen and shrunk so you can easily get out. You can lightly bang pipe against ground to get the baffle to slide out. Once out enough you can use a punch in the mount hole to tap the baffle out.

Might be a stupid question... But did you take out the bolt holding the baffle in? I had the same problem on my BR. The top baffle was stuck like a mother and I tried everything from heating them up to letting some wd-40 soak in. But after about 2 hrs it finally came out.
