Default need a bit of advice.

hi all, ive got a 2007 streetbob love the bike hate the skinny front wheel! i wanna lace a 16" rim on the front and run the same front tyre as on the cross bones.been told it wont work because of offset and it will ruin the handling.anybody out there fitted a 16 on the front?any problems or things to look out for? would be good to see some photos.also the 180 se rear tyre what are the details so i can get one from an independant instead of paying shed loads from a stealership!. any help would be very welcome. cheers, nick.

Not sure how it would look with a 16 on front and 17 on back, not sure if the wide "bones" front tire would work on the midglide front end either. All laws of aesthetics show that an even matched or taller front tire is more appealing on a bike than a shorter one. It'll look like the bike is running downhill, giving it what MX'ers would call a stinkbug look. As far as the 180 rear, just buy it and mount it up. No special hardware from H-D is required.

I had a 16" rim laced to my stock hub on the front of my 06 streetbob, the tire size is 130/90/16. I will try to add a pic.

I like the look of the whole bike. Any clearance issues with the tire/fender/fork combo?

You can not use your stock front fender. Also when putting the front brake on you have to leave the brake disc loose, attach the caliper then tighten the disc, but other than that there were no clearance issues with the forks. I did ride most of the summer fenderless, and that got old so I made a new front fender that is just big enough to keep the water from hitting me in the face.

Like mentioned above, the easiest way would be to lace the rim to your original hub. The other way would be to use Wide Glide or Fat Bob triple clamps which would give you an Exile Cycles look (http://www.exilecycles.com/). Info below on the Screamin Eagle 180 kit.

Custom clamps and you can go even wider:

thanks for the info & photos.47 dodge, your bike looks mint with the 16 on the front.how does it handle? is that the original front fender cut down? i reckon thats gotta be the way to go 16 0n the front se 180 on the rear.dont wanna go too wide still wanna go round corners! really fat rubber looks good but looking good aint no good if it handles like a shopping cart!

Thanks, The bike handles great. I have the stock rear tire right now but will upgrade to a 180 as soon as I need a new tire. No that is not the original fender, I sold the original on ebay and made the new one, original fender is way to narrow. I did upgrade the front brake pads to lyndell pads. With the new fat tire it felt like I had less front brake, but with the new pads all is good.
