Cool FatBob; Project BlackOut

Phase # 1

Included mostly off the shelf bolt-ons; smoked turn signal lenses, brake/clutch levers, derby cover, horn cover, tri-bar tail light and handlebars. Reflectors and the frame ID stickers were also removed in an effort to minimize ‘bling’ and noise.

Phase # 2

Approximately 29 parts dropped off at the powder coater this week - ready to be picked up. Expect to have them installed this weekend. Includes strut covers, rear sprocket, all 4 turn signals, various brackets and more.

Phase # 3

Begins next week. Bike goes to shop for 5k service, performance upgrades, and more detailed powder coating.

Phase # 4 (final)

Dependent on results of phase # 3

To help minimize down-time, I’ve been prepping for this for some time; buying replacement parts and borrowing take-off parts from other folks (thanks 5 mile smile ).

The hardest part was taking the plunge – hope everything turns out the way I hope it will. Mocking things up in PhotoShop kinda helped, but things always look different in real life – guess I’ll know soon enough.

Stay tuned for more...

Can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done... I've been slowly going the same direction with my bike. For this winter, I'm planning some powder coating and possibly a black V&H exhaust.

On the way to the target, one must avoid the feared black hole at all costs...Strangely, others here (who shall remain nameless) are in search of the elusive hole...
