Default Yet another Derby cover screw question...

Since we have just had a bunch of posts on replacing the derby, and it was fresh in my head, (and since I just got my night train cover in the mail...)

I went ahead and replaced it,...

All good info on those damm T27's, I actually took a torx bit(T27) and ground the tip flat to make sure I wasnt usng any rounded off bit.

I tapped it into each screw with a metal hammer, and used a 1/4 inch ratchet to back them out, all came out extreemly easy, thank goodness.
They were a bit hard to get off the torx bit but better that then stripped right?

I replaced them with Stainless allen screws, but I could not find a small flat washer like was on the T27 screw.

Are those washers necessary?

Thanks, Eric..
