These have quality zippers and are easy on/off with heavy boots. Also have elastic in the waist and a good belt system. Fly is functional and poses no problems when mother nature calls. I bought them to re-sell, but they're keepers now.
Who made them?

They were made by Power-trip (http://www.power-trip.com/mens/menspants_dakota.html)
These are older and they don't make leather ones anymore. The fabric look to be the best idea for Florida. I have some kevlar chaps from Colorado Chaps that are great for hot weather, but suck for cold.

A good one piece ski/snowboading suit will set you back over $300.00, maybe less on sale. I have a Columbia Titanium that I got several years ago that's good for zero degrees. Wouldn't want to hit the pavement in one.
I've worn fleece pants and goretex pants under my chaps and that's a good combo for high 30's and wet.

No way I'm gonna ride in the rain with my leathers.... not on purpose anyway!
My rain gear fits over my leathers. I only commute about 10 miles to work, so even with temps around 24, my chaps still work fine.

If I'm gonna have to ride in the cold for a long distance, I'll just get a pair snowboarding pants. I had my last pair so long they shrunk but they work great for cold/wind.

Personally I don't give a fig what anybody else thinks I look like when I ride.

I also have fabric overpants, but I have a low tollerance for velcro -- I hate the sound of it. Snaps and zippers for me, thanks.
Cotton may slide better over the saddle, but leather slides better over asphalt!!!

I'll concede the point that cotton slides poorly over asphalt.

In all seriousness, I have accumulated several different options for cold/wet weather riding.

- I have a pair of unlined Carhartt bibs (black) that are good for keeping off a chill. They work great over those wonderful polyester uniform pants.

- I also have the previously mentioned chaps.

- When the temperature dips towards freezing, I have a pair of arctic lined Carhartt bibs (also black).

- When it rains, I have a pair of the HD Goretex overpants. I used to rely on the unlined Carhartts, until I got caught out in a bad rainstorm at Bike Week. The HD pants have a heat shield sewn onto the inside of the leg to prevent melting on the pipes.

Wow, looks like some of you guys ride in the low 20's! The coldest I have ever ridden in was 31 degrees... with mesh somer weight gloves. It doesn't dip that low here in south Ga. I'm sure I will get stationed somewhere cold again like Minot, ND. I didn't ride when I was there though. Im sure that we will be seeing alot more posts by "Up in Minot" since winter is setting in. He doesn't post that often in the summer, lol.

For all weather riding, protection, and less than 25 seconds I can remove the suit and be in my street clothes or suit underneath. I wear an Aerostich Roadcrafter. They also make a two piece called the Darien. They aren't cheap but will last longer than the chaps you have and protect you much better. They are available here.....

I have these:

Wearing them over jeans will make you walk like Herman Munster, but they're fine over slacks or so-called lounge pants.
