Default Cam cover removal?

I have an '05 WG with about 33k miles on it. I was wanting to take a look at the cam chain tensioners, but can't get the cam cover off. I removed all the bolts, but the thing is stuck on there. I gave it quite a few good whacks with a rubber mallet, but it won't budge. I'm guessing they use some kind of sealant at the factory, but how do I get the thing off? Thanks for any tips here.

Most cover gaskets go on dry at the factory, a rubber mallet should have done the trick. Not questioning your ability, but did you have all the bottom fasteners out? Another trick is to put a 1x1 up against the case (front lower right behind the exhaust) rap the wood with a hammer. Had to use that trick on my primary case and clutch release cover on first removals. Good luck.

Yep, had all the fasteners out. I took the timer cover off too, and took a hammer and rapped a metal bar against the inside edge. Didn't budge. Dealer said they'd take the cover off and have a look at the tensioners for $50. I guess I can just go that route.
