Default open air cleaner question?

I have a roland sands air cleaner on my bike now... Open K&N air filter.
anyone get stuck in the rain with their open filter? Any concerns or problems?
I think the oil on the filter should repell the water from getting in, however, I will buy a rain sock(if one is made that will fit) if that is what I need to do. Your help much appreciated.

I have never had a problem with mine while running naked in the rain and 'Mud' has made a few entries about riding his in the rain also.

It's happened to me a couple of times with my Arlen Ness and I've had no issues. I wouldn't do it on purpose as I try not to ride in a lot of rain period but if I needed to, I would just put my stock football back on temporarily. But I was 2 hours from home a few months ago and there was only a small chance of rain that day. Yet, it rained on me almost the entire ride back and my filter was open. I always cover it with a ziploc, though, for example, when I wash my bike.

As the others have said. Don't worry about it.

Parked in the rain would be the problem so cover it up. Riding the any water would get sucked and blown out in combustion. Keep the pistons clean anyway!

i zip loc when washing and i have a rain sock i got for it for like 3 bucks off a link someone posted a while ago... i keep the sock under my seat... everyone says it is not a big deal riding in the rain with it... but i rode 1 mile from my brothers place... got home (by the way this was a freshly cleaned AND oiled K&N filter) pulled it off and the inside of my throttle body was SOAKED... that means the bike is pulling water in... yes it runs fine but it is NOT good... the sock was cheap, goes on in no time... and will prevent your bike from sucking in water

Actually, you should see a 10-15% increase in horsepower. Steam power is amazing
