Default Hard bags on Superglide

My dad gave me a old set of hard bags off a bagger, My only problem is mounting them. Any ideas on how to mount them to my struts? The hard bags have the clips on the inside and the old style locks.

I doubt youre going to be able to use any of the mounting that came on the bags. The easiest way out would be to use Easy Brackets and mount those to the bags. If you're not into fabricating from scratch, thats you're best way out.

Once you start the project, you'll start fabricating anyway. Like changing the contour of your rear fender to match the lines of the bags. Then doing the front to match the rear. Then adding more chrome. Then maybe a fairing. And stereo. And communication system. And last but not least, a cup holder.

i would cut out the area where the shock can actually pass in though the bag.. tuck them tight to the bike.. once it is all fitted i would use some sheet metal and create a inner wall on the inside of the bag to go aroudn the shock... then fiberglass that... would be water tight, hold the bag CLOSE to the bike and look AWESOME!!! i have to say i am a bit jelous you get to do this! i have been thinking about this for a while now!

By "bagger ... old style locks" are you referring to a pre-Road King FLH? You can get mounting hardware from V-Twin Mfg (you can buy it from Zoom 4 Parts or Discount Cycle Parts or various local distributors ...) this would allow you to use the original mounting system and I think perhaps the brackets could be easily modified to mount on your bikes struts.

If it's late model Road King bags, I have pondered how to mount those on a Dyna, but it would be much more of a challenge. I've thought that maybe a Cycle Vision mounting bracket for a Softail could be adapted to work with a Dyna by bolting the forward-most bracket mounting point to the passenger footpeg mount. This approach might work for a '05 and earlier Dyna, but not '06 and later since the passenger footpegs on later models is on the swingarm.

Post pictures and let us know how it works out. Good luck!
