Default Fatbob wheel brake dust problems.

Hi,my rear wheel looks bad on my Fatbob -08 and i have heard about brake dust problems on these
bikes,is this a common thing ? My front wheel looks like new even if i use the front brakes much more than the rear brakes.

Anybody who knows if the wheels are coated with a plastic layer / clear cote or is it just
the metal ? My dealer suggested me to polish the wheel to get it look better.

Here are a couple pics of the rear wheel :

Well,I use same cleaner I have used in many years and have never had any problems with that on other bikes and cars. And the front wheel on the bike looks like new so if the cleaner would be too caustic the front wheel should look the same or ?

The pictures are taken at 1000miles.The bike is stored in a dry and warm garage and I,m
taking care of the bike and washes it.But the "stuff" (don´t know the right word) on the wheel can´t be washed off.

try spraying down the wheel with shout and let it soak about 3 or 4 minutes and then wash it off, works for me, although my son gave me some spray can of something I cant remember the name of that once you get it clean you spray on and all the brake dust n grime just wipe off with a rag, or even you finger for that matter. I sprayed it on a month ago and havent used shout since, I used to use it once a week. as far as brake dust goes if you cant find a way to control it lyndal brakes are sposed to be dust free

The brake dust problem could be from not breaking in the pads. Usually when I put new pads on I do about 40-50 light stops. Just tap the brakes a few times to heat them up then let them cool down. The pads have a coating on them and the heat helps them cure but too much heat and it will take the coating off. Thats just my experience.

The fairies dont sneak in at night and clean and polish your wheels for you. You have to do it yourself. I'd say your dealer thinks you are an idiot.

I would try this on the rear wheel. Can't hurt, it's cheap, and prolly gonna help. Kind of a P.I.T.A. though...
