Gunna do it. Putting a springer front end! Need help..
Hey guys,
So, I've decided I'm going to take the plunge and put a springer front end on my ride. Yes, it will be black to match the rest of the bike. But, I do need some help. Here's a link to the one I like..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BLACK...mZ260296133700
But what I'm confused about is, what does -2" over, 4+ over and all that mean? Is it the rake of the forks? I'm not sure exactly what I would put on...
And, what else would I need to make this work? New rim, hub, brake caliper, brake lines, rotor.... what else would I need? I'm hoping to collect the parts slowly, and have it done by the end of this year, or early next year.
Thanks for the help guys!

4 over would be stock length + 4 inches and if you were purchasing that assembly you would need a wheel to fit the 3/4 axle plus axle and the other items you mentioned. I know a dealer by me did one last year and it looked real nice (Brunswick H D ) and I have seen some on the forums I visit. Good Luck

risers and bars as they are a different width than yours... wheel, fender, light, brake caliper and maybe disc.
you should talk to someone about getting the exact length you need also a great post was done in the past on here about doing his bob with the springer front end.
also make sure there is a good damping system for the springer you do not want it to pogo on you.

I was looking at a springer front end. If you go to ebay stores and go to kc international and look at their springer front ends they have a chart to tell you if you need 2" under or 2" over ext. But it's the legnth of the front end. It says:
approximate distance from the bottom of your frame neck to center line of axle on our stock springer is 22 1/4"
if you stock fork measures:
19-21" you should use the 2" under
21-23" you should use the stock 22"
23-25" you should use the 2" over
25-27" you should use the 4" over
and so on for 6", 8", 10" over
maybe the person your buying from has a chart like this they go by

Regarding making it work, check Demon Cycles website. They sell kits that come with a front rim that is pretty reasonably priced. You should be able to re-use your existing brakes, lines, etc.
Good luck, I'll be putting their wide-glide front end on my scoot this winter!!

OK, I just received my handlebars and headlight from Demon Cycles, and the quality is GREAT!! I would highly recomend them, their prices are great, shipping was fast, and they are VERY responsive to emails. If you go with their products you won't be disappointed, and I have nothing to gain by saying so!!!!
