heres black finned against chrome:
I think the finned is cool and I like the night train solid black better...
I can see the dark custom on the 09 streetbob and crossbones as their engine fins are painted!

Three weeks ago I ordered the black finned derby cover from the HD dealership. On backorder, and still waiting.... Looks like a lot of others have the same idea :-(
I agree with what others have said; The shiny derby cover looks like..... I think Harley just put it on there so we'd buy another part from them....

If you want covers that match check out this site. They did custom covers for me. Really reasonable, especially if you're gonna pay dealer price anyway. You can see my cover in my gallery.

Here's a derby cover and horn cover I made. Pics don't really do them justice.

They're both wrinkled.

Those look good stevengb. Are they chrome underneath or polished aluminum? I wanted to get completely away from any polished aluminum so that's why I got the black finned one.

Is that wrinkle black paint or powdercoat?

It's wrinkle black paint. So far it's held up great. Just have to be careful when changing the fluid in the primary. They're are both about 2 years old.
