What is the stock size on the 07? if it is a 150 I would not put a 170 on the wheel. 10 mm over is all that is really safe from what I have heard and experienced. Any more than 10 and you can experience roll in the curves.
Width should not make any difference to the speedo, only height should affect that.
Just my $0.02

The 2006 and up Dynas came with a 160/70/17, the upgrade Screamin' Eagle tire is a 180/60/17.
The issue we have in going wider isn't the width of the tire, it's the width of the bead.
The 180/17s that fit on crotch rockets aren't safe for our rim width, but some say the ME880 170/17.
What is the aspect ratio of the ME880? You could figure out if there is a diameter difference.
I am really thinking about tthe ME880s as I've had them before on another bike and really liked the handling...it would be worth it to loose the 10mm from the SE180 I'm runing now.
You can figure out tire diameters here:

The SE 180 is wider than the Metz but it is made specifically to fit the 06 and up stock dyna rear rim. So don't do your comparisons based on the logic that if that 180 fits, the 170 should. With that said, I do think I remember posts from months back where people said they are running the Metz 170 on their stock rims and opted for that because they wanted metzelers front and back.

OK try a different way. I have been running a 170/60 17 on the rear of my 06 WG for many miles now. First was a Dunlop D220 and now on a Metz same size. Both fit correctly and handle great. Both are shorter then the OE tire so the speedo reads faster then you are going. Unless you have a means to recalibrate.

Me880
I am currently running ME880's front and rear. I love them, great handling tires. I did notice that they wear out a bit faster than the stock dunlop's, however i will never go back. The Metzeler ME880's 160/70/17 tires are specifically made for the new dyna's 17" rear rim and they come in 2 models, 160/70 B 17 M/C 73H TL and 160/70 B 17 M/C 79V REINFTL which is the reinforced tread.
When I first made the switch it was instantly noticeable and the bike felt like the rubber was sticking to the road!

When you say that you are running a 170 metz on the rear I'm guessing that you are talking about the 170/60 R 17 M/C 72V TL which is a radial.
Couple of questions:
- Are you also running a radial on the front also, if so which one?
- Are there any problems running radials with spoked rims?
