They'll come on early. Now when I fill up my tank, the needle rests between 3/4 and full, even when I completely max out the tank.

My gauge may be a tiny bit off since I installed Jakyl's tank lift on my Bob but it shows right on the full mark after I fill the tank and at 140 miles the low fuel light hadn't come on. I don't recall for sure but the needle might have indicated just a bit above full prior to the lift.

In the interest of full disclosure I rarely look at the darn thing. This is the first bike I've had in my 48 years of riding that's had a gauge and I'm so used to judging fill up time by miles traveled that I just continue to do it the old fashioned way.

When my low fuel light comes on I still have about 2 gallons left in the tank

Most of us think it looks good. You can see more of the rocker covers so they are easier to clean. A fairly cheap mod that makes quite an appearance difference. And cuz I can...

Oh yeah. My gauge is a little effed up also...

Anyone know if the fuel pickup is in the rear or the middle of the tank? Use to get 220 miles on 4.7 gals. And what's jackyl's website to order the lift?

FatBobRay... You pick.

Door #1. It gives more of a chopper look... or
Door #2. The lines from the tank flow more fluidly through the gracefulness of the frame... or
Door #3. If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.

Personally, my choice is door #1.

BTW, my sig pic taken prior to tank lift.

Northern, it is on the left side about 3/4ths of the way towards the rear of the tank. I think you make some of the fuel inaccessible with the lift, but I don't think it is a big deal. I did notice my gauge was even less accurate with the lift, but it is worth it to me. I hit the low fuel light at 130 miles today and still had just over a gallon left.
