The reason I installed the tank lift was for added cooling of the engine, it allows more air flow over the heads, but the added bonus was it made the bike look a lot better.

So you could run out of gas, take off the lift and ride on?
No need to carry a gas can

I installed Jackyl's 2" lift and have no complaints. Low fuel light does come on early, usually between 70 and 90 miles. Irritating for sure, but, IT IS WHAT IT IS

Thanks for the info BluBob. Was thinking of lifting the tank this winter when I have the bike apart to install T-bars and diamond back cables and hose. But still unsure, I love the look but don't want to run out of gas because of it. I got my mileage down now on a tank full.

Hey Northern - I have Jackyl's 3 incher on my bike and I have gone 205 miles and pumped 4 gallons on the button. I don't think most people will push it that far just 'to see'.

8 inch rise and they come damn close. I first got a 2" lift - but saw room for the 3 incher. Now the 2" is on my dad's Wide Glide. I'll attach a couple pics to show the clearance...

PM jackyl...he's got an eBay store but offers a discount to HDF members.

The petcock is on the left side right where a reserve switch would be if it had one. Looking at it I think you will have about 2 cups or so of inaccessible fuel. Think of it as a reserve that takes a wrench to use.
