The word softail is a registered trademark of Harley-Davidson motorcycles coined with the release of the FXST Softail in 1984. Since then, the word has expanded to include other motorcycles with hidden rear suspensions as well as bicycles incorporating a rear suspension.

Not much motorcycle riding
I saw the second episode of "Sons of Anarchy" last night. The totality of the motorcycle riding in this episode was less than 20 seconds. I am not even sure that the cast members actually ride the motorcycles. What riding their is is very sloooooooow.
My favorite part is anytime Katey Sagal is on the screen. Some like chocolate and some like vanilla and some like strawberry - for me, Katey Sagal is a hot MILF !! I am 52 and I'd do her in a heartbeat.
The violence is pretty much what can be expected from a real 1%er.
The show is good, but the Harleys are more of a framework prop than part of the action.

Nope, all it means is some people like the fairings and some don't. See, you learned something else now.

A Softail is a bike with rear shock absorbers. Most new bikes are softails.
Softail is a model of bike by HD. My Street Bob has rear suspension but is not a Softail.
I don't think most bikes are Softails, but whatever crack you're smoking might be making you think like them.
