I just removed big blob of melted boot heel for about the tenth time! I start the bike let the pipe get hot then take a cotton rag and try to wipe dry as much as I can. Then a put Goof Off on the rag and get out the elbow grease. I would not use a micro fiber rag , i tried it and it started to melt.

Oven cleaner works great. Just spray it on, wait a bit, and wipe it off. Make sure you put some towels or something around where you are spraying so you don't get overspray on any other parts.

Read one of my previous posts about this. The HD website says to use Easy Off oven cleaner.

Default Exaust marks

Believe it or not, those silly Mr. Clean magic erasers that my wife loves so much, will clean the hell out of a set of pipes....EASY!!! I didn't believe it either till I tried it. Read it on here somewhere. Even the generic ones work, I know, I've tried.

I had my frogg toggs metl on my muffler. I put some soft scrub on the COLD pipes and let sit for a few minutes. Then with the scour side of a dish sponge, used rotating motions an WAH-LA. All gone.
