DYNA Detachable Bags-Anyone do-it themselves
07 Dyna Bob--- To cheap to buy factory detachable bags, the mounts are affordable, but someone must have figured out how to make your own do not like the Ghost and similar brackets stick out to far. Did it on a Sportster in the past, but memory is rapidly failing can't remember how.
any tips instructions appreciated

Mine is an 03, so it may not work for you. I am using Cycle Visions Barebacks. They work pretty good, and dont stick out too far.

Bob with bags
This is what I did. Relocate rear turn signals, purchased from dealer, look for bags that have a frame that will bolt directly to bolt holes in strut, this will put the bags in close. But it's not easy to get them off and on. I think my bags are from early model Dyna.

jrk's set up is similar to blutoys (but didnt cut or anything to the bracket) but he just flipped the brackets upside down and used the right on the left side of the bike and left on the right, so the bracket sticks outward when attached. its rather a nice setup, would have done it that way if i saw it before i used esay brackets. but i like my easy brackets none the less!

I had thought about hanging a backrest bracket upside down, but decided not to mostly because I didn't know if I wanted to trust hanging the entire weight of the bag and it's contents from the pivoting clamp. It is designed to latch onto the mount, not to carry a load. I just didn't think I wanted to trust it.

My post was more on how it could be done on the cheap, If I have to buy the detachable side plates, $130.00, might as well go with the standard sissy bar set-up and forget about the bags, the thru bags and on with spring? clips seems most workable with any MOCO bags which are for sale on eBay starting at !50.00 and up for a good set, will follow up on this mount.
Thanks for the suggestions.
