Pre-'06 FXDWG owners -fender width
Guys,
What's the rear fender width on your stock bike, between the struts?
Since I couldn't buy a new Wide Glide this year, I'd like to try to create a "semi-wide" glide out of my '09 Superglide Custom.
Kick the front end out just a little bit with some raked cups, maybe a 21" wheel, forward controls, and the bobtail fender. That's why i'm asking you pre-'06 guys. I like the look of the older bobtail MUCH better than the new, and just wondering if the width is the same as my '09. I don't mind welding up mounting holes and redrilling new ones, as long as the width is correct.
What do you guys think of my "semi-wide glide" conversion idea?
Ken

Does the SuperGlide custom use the same frame and rear tire size as the Fat Bob?? If it does I would think you could put a Fat Bob rear fender on the Superglide ... it's the same fender as is used on the 08 WideGlide. The Fat Bob is very much like half a Wideglide already, same Fat Bob tank and same rear fender. It differs in the front end and exhaust. Too bad you didn't go the the 09 Fat Bob instead ... less to customize to get your Wideglide. ... Still it sounds like you're going to end up with a unique one of a kind WideGlide when all is said and done.
Good luck and make sure you post some photos when you're done .... I'd love to see how it comes out!
