Default Warranty Question

I'm not sure what to do with this warranty situation, please help. I have an 07 Street Bob, it has 20,000 miles. I have done all the services myself. In about 6 months, my 2 year warranty is going to expire. I'm debating on purchasing the 5 year warranty, but a bit unsure about HDMCO saying service wasn't performed by a dealer. My bike sits a lot because of work, it either sits, or I'm riding my *** off. Anyone with input on this would be greatly appreciated. Should I buy extended warranty or not? Thanks

It should be black and white. The stealer keeps records of the (break in interval) service they've done on mine.

An 07 with 20k, well sounds like it's on the road more than just sitting, simple, depending where you live, can you ride all year, do you plan on keeping the bike for some time, how hard do you ride and what does the warranty exactly cover. Calculating the miles to years your looking at 100,000 miles on the bike, know exactly what is covered and what isn't then divide the cost into the years. I don't think the Blue Book would be good to you by the end of the warranty
Just my .02 worth

the pre paid warranty is just pre paying for work done in the future ... thing is no matter if your work is more or LESS you still get that up front cost...
The warranty is designed for the dealer and the MOCO to make a profit therefore it is usually not worth the investment as chances are you will not use nearly as much of the warranty as you spend...
the tough thing is you are putting more miles on the bike than average and it may work out for you...
I still would not buy the warranty... I would rather fix and spend when needed than spend and never need or not get the value out of.

My warranty is up next week on my 07 SB , got it in Aug.06'. Now has 16,000 on it and it's still running fine. I won't be renewing for all the same reasons that Bikecop40 & Rounder stated , plus i do my own wrenching. If you don't have the know how to do engine and tranny work in the future and have $1700.00 to throw down on the ex.warranty then do it ,otherwise take that money and treat your scoot to some goodies.Dan

Also, which ever way you go - pick up a service manual and get to know it front cover to back, it will be the best money you ever spent.
