Default Question for V&H black pipe owners

Or other brands of pipes with flat black powder coat.
How is the black finish holding up long term?
I have seen bikes with black pipes that don't look to good after a while (rust etc).

My Black V&H Side Shots are holding up great. I have had them for a while now and the finish looks brand new. I know what you mean about black pipes rusting but I think that is more for pipes that are actually black. The V&H pipes are black heat shields and that is why I think they will hold up longer.

I have the new Big Radius in black and they look great. The finish seems solid and I've simply wiped them up when I've had a few water spots and such on them. It's much like that of the denim finish of the Harley.

What you need to remember about these pipes from V&H is that they are race-quality black ceramic coated shields, not metal painted black so it should hold up much better than pipes someone had powdercoated black.

In addition, the ceramic coating will protect from heat better than chrome or painted metal. They still get hot, but I've noticed them not getting nearly as hot as the chrome/stock pipes.

I've had my Vance and Hines black short shots since May and they look brand new. I think the heat shields may help

I've had my black V&H black short shots since May and they still look like the day I put them on.

As said above... Vance and hines should hold up nice as the black is a heatshield not the actual pipe.
