Default Primary plug o-ring and derby seal

Getting ready to change out my fluids. Do I really need to replace the o-ring and seal for the Primary openings? Can I just clean and re-use them?

Just depends on what kind of shape they are in and how often you do fluid changes.

I reused my o-rings at 1000 mile service since they all looked new. I replaced the derby cover seal even though it looked good. At 3000 miles I changed fluids for my Chrome Motor package install and crankcase o-ring was pretty wore looking, the rest still looked good but replaced them anyway.

I replaced the o ring but reused the gasket. I have taken the derby cover off a few times and have just reused the stock gasket everytime. I'll probably use the new one I have in the garage next time. Don't wanna keep pushing my luck.

Reuse both, if they're good.

oRings are fifteen cents each.

I replace the o-ring after every third service. They will leak after a few changes ... as me how my skeptical *** knows this.

That said, however, I kinda' like the fact that my FX is now marking his spot like my old shovels used to do.

I reused my orings on my last oil change even though they looked pretty bad. I didn't have much choice....I didn't have anymore. No leakage though. This time I have new orings to use. The derby cover gasket looked fine and I reused it.

I replace the O rings every time, also put a dab of teflon paste on the threads. I changed the derby cover to a custom cover and it uses a different gasket then the stock cover. Don't know if its re-usable or not. Hope it is cause it's $7.00.
