I changed nothing but the bars. The handgrips wound up in pretty much the same location but turned straight instead of pulled back so much with those "buckhorns". That leaves the cables and wiring with just about the same slack as the stock situation. If I went with the 6" ers I would have to put the turn signals on the forks. I would like to route the wiring through the handlebars though. I am not that ambitious yet though.

You're probably gonna have to do some rewiring and new risers. Nothing beats a clean look. If you don't get those drag bars positioned right it's goning to be uncomfortable as well.
