Default Amsoil 20w50 Fat Bob

Just put Amsoil 20w50 in the motor of my 08 Fat Bob. Can you also put the same oil (20w50) in the Tranny and Primary? Or, is it not thick enough? I currently have Revtec in the Tranny and Primary. Thanks

you can... but you trany would like some gear lube better. people have good results with amsoil sever gear 75w110, i have yet to add this to my bike, but the oil is in my garage so when its time it will be going in. it is supposed to quiet down the trany some. but i will be using amsoil 20w50 motorcycle oil in engine and primary.

Agree with Shimmon, although I do use 75/90 Severe Gear and 20-50 in the other two holes. And from the what its worth department I've used AmsOil in my last 3 bikes without any fluid related problems.

Harley now recommends gear oil for the tranny. No on motor oil for the tranny.

Amsoil 20/50 in the engine and the primary, Amsoil 75/110 in the trans. I didn't notice much in the way of noise reduction like some others may have, but I didn't think it was that loud to start with. Trans is as smooth as I've felt on a Harley, and temps seem well under what I've heard the 96's can produce.
