The manual is suggesting high pressure for better fuel econ and longest tire life.
Full tire = less rolling resistance and higher final gear ratio.
If you like to hot-rod from stoplight to stoplight talking a little air out of the rear will let you hook-up better if breaking loose under hard acceleration is a problem for you...
