As opposed to wire taps..I used a razor to expose the bare wire , and wrapped and soldered the connections. ( &nbsp\\;I have seen wire taps shear or comprimise lead wires often) . then I painted it with wire coater. wrapped it , and put it back together.

 

i never use taps... solder everything, do it right do it once
