Default Rewiring Stock '04 DWGI Handlebars

I want to stash my signal/switch wiring inside my stock handlebars. Not worried about the drilling. But on inspection of the innards of the switch housings, I find there is no way to slip the wires off their respective switches within the housing. The wires appear to be epoxy-moulded into the invididual switches.

So, how's this done? Splices inside the housings? Are there connections elsewhere in the harness?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Cheers!

Jim

If you look at the service manual (you do have one right?) It'll tell you how to pull the main wiring harness out of the Dyna frame backbone. About 12" in, you'll see where the handlebar swtiches connect into a Deutsch connector. From there, it's a matter of using a small punch or pin tool to remove the wires from the connector, from there, it's easy to run them through the bars. Just make sure they go into the connectors the same way they came out. then all that's left is pulling the wiring harness back through the frame to take up the slack. I think each Deuctch has 6 wires in it.

I agree, strike the pins and reinstall. I cut and soldered mine, but not someting I would recommend for the inexperienced.
