Hi...I don't know if this is a problem or not, just wanted to find out how bad this is....Friday on my ride home, noticed a clunk in 5th and 6th rolling the throttle on and off...not really there in 1st through 4th, but 5th and 6th are loud...not actually shifting, just cruising and rolling on and off the throttle.&nbsp\\; The bike only has 3200 miles, and dealership says I'm good til nov with warranty, just want to know if its worth my time to check out, or if its normal.&nbsp\\; Thanks!

 

Assuming the engine is not in a lugging state when you do these roll-on/offs, I certainly wouldn't consider it normal.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Run it by the HD shop and they'll tell you.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; I don't and never have, had that condition.

 

the rpms are kinda low, but i wouldnt call it lugging..maybe ill try it at higher speeds tonight...i already called the dealership and spoke to the manager.&nbsp\\; he told me to bring it by for a road test.&nbsp\\; i know him pretty well, so hopefully theyll take care of it.

 

Cant hurt to get it on record with them make sure they open a service ro so you have a copy in case it becomes an issue later

 

If it's something abnormal, I'm sure they'll take care of it.&nbsp\\; Even if you were lugging the engine, can't see any reason for a clunk.&nbsp\\; A ping maybe, but not a clunk.

 

its definitely strange, no other noises at all, just the clunk on and off throttle those 2 gears...like dyna said, at least there will be a service record of it, and if it blows in a year, maybe HD will stand by it.

 

The shop should determine now whether it's a problem or not.&nbsp\\; That part should be easy.&nbsp\\; Getting a repair month's after warranty expires isn't assured.&nbsp\\; It becomes a Goodwill repair on HD's part and they make the final decision.

 

posting a "lack of update" update...haven't been able to get the bob to the shop due to the weather...this weather stinks!
