Default RE: Clunk washer fix

Well, didn't get to make the washer last night so I went to Dallas HD this morning to get the washer. They only sell the kit not the washer. I've heard of marking up parts but this is ridiculous. If I didn't have to have it wouldn't have gotten it. Harley price for the kit is $6.25, Dallas HD and HD Dallas both wanted $8.95 for the kit. Liked to sh*t myself. Told the parts girl that that was one hell of a markup. One washer and three lines of instructions on a piece of paper. No wonder Harley dealers have such a bad reputation.

Just wondering if the front has to be lifted when you do this fix?

I don't think you have to unload the front fork to replace the washer. I bought one for $1.70 when all of this BS started showing up but I have no clunk yet. And yes it is just a hardened washer..i can see the heat treat marks on it. $8.95 is frickin crazy.

Replaced the washer last week on a 2006 Lowrider, not only got rid of the clunk but feels way better and solid. Found the same thing at my dealer said the washer only number is not in their computers and you have to buy the kit.
