Default Progressive shocks (regular vs. hd) - Any experience

I have read a lot of posts regarding the 412 HD shocks. My bike has 20K miles and I bought used. It appears as though the shocks are original and I would think need to be replaced. I want to get the progressive 412's but wasn't sure about which one (regular or HD). I am leaning toward the 412 hd but wasn't sure how stiff the ride would be if I only ride solo (I weigh 195). Is there that big a difference between the two in ride and stiffness? I was thinking get the 412 hd and adjust to a softer ride.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Any input would be appreciated. &nbsp\\;

You can always adjust the preload depending on the ride. I am happy with the 412 hd's

My lady is only about 110 lbs, so with both of us and trip gear&nbsp\\;about 350 max. On settings 3 or 4 it can be a bit stiff, but on 1 or 2 pretty nice.

I bought my last bike with 412 HD lowering shocks and they rode real rough due to the limited travel.&nbsp\\; I swapped them for the regular 412s (also lower than stock) and the ride was a lot smoother.

based on your weight, I would go with regular.&nbsp\\; I did the HD with the 440's and wish I hadn't.&nbsp\\; I weight 215 now, 225 when I bought them.&nbsp\\;
The only time my bike runs really nice is when I have my wife on the back

I weigh 180 and ride solo. I bought 412s regular and glad I did. Normally keep on mid setting and it is fine. When loading for trip, I I adjust to stiffest setting. Perfect.
