New Information Dyna Inner Primary Bearing
#61
My IPB was shot at 4200 miles and H-D HQ refused to pay one lousy cent. Phone calls and letters did no good. My FXD35I was made in December 2005. Only have 6500 miles on it now so don't know how long the fix is going to last. Used a Drag Specialties so-called heavy duty bearing. We will see.

Grumpy56,
The MOCO will not replace the Inner Primary and the Tranny Case until the 2nd. bearing failure. I do NOT know why, but this is their Policy. Now that you have went to an aftermarket bearing there is a possibility you may run into some issues there also and if you did not have the first replacement done at an H-D Dealership that could also become an issue. I do wish you luck. You may also want to look at your "Stator Rotor" and see if it is the type which is held together by screws. If so, these screws could back out and cause a LOT of damage. However, the MOCO will NOT replace the "Stator Rotor" until it fails. Which absolutley makes no sense to me. I'm in the process of replacing mine now at my own expense.

So I got my IPB replaced and kept it. Wear is very strange. Large knick and several smaller ones on the inner race. But check out the rollers...if I can overcome some technological challenges, I'll post a couple photos...they are worn and jagged on one side, all the way around the bearing....and smooth on the other. Thoughts on how that worked? Haven't seen that many worn bearings but the ones I've seen don't look like this.
