What actually comes with the wide tire kit?&nbsp\\; Besides the tire of course.&nbsp\\; I already have HD saddlebags, which means I already have the thinner brackets.&nbsp\\; I'm trying to figure out if I really need to spend $260 for the kit or just $190 for the tire only.&nbsp\\; Any guidance would be appreciated.

 

The kit has the tire and the thinner brackets.&nbsp\\; You only need the tire.

I had mine put on at the dealers after I bought the kit at a promotion they had and they told me they had to go with HD recommendation for the brackets.&nbsp\\; The deal was good enough that I wnet with it.

BTW, the ride is greatly improved with the tire.&nbsp\\; I am very happy with mine.

 

So just the brakets and hardware for said brackets.&nbsp\\; Sounds like the MoCo is trying to pull a fast one, but what else is new.&nbsp\\; Thanks for the help.

 

Chicago HD sells the tire only for around 170.

 

There is no clear cut way to determine this.&nbsp\\; You have to satisfy yourself that your wires are secure and out of the way of a wider tire.&nbsp\\; I have the detachable sideplate hardware installed and was satisfied that my wiring was safe so I went through an Indy and bought the tire only.&nbsp\\; So far, so good.&nbsp\\; Most dealers will not install the tire only on a bike that is under warranty.&nbsp\\; They want to make you buy the kit.&nbsp\\; If you don't feel you need it, don't buy it.

Same thing I felt when I saw yet another reflector removal thread earlier today.&nbsp\\; But it was from a newbie so I understand.&nbsp\\; I just kept moving.

 

Do I need to re-map if I just change my pipes?&nbsp\\; Just kidding, but that one is in the top 10 as well.

 

If I had over 3000 posts, maybe I'd be spending a little too much time on the computer and not enough time out riding.
