I am not nay saying you fatbob, merely stating an opinion.&nbsp\\; I will do what ever I please.&nbsp\\; This forum is about sharing how we do things.&nbsp\\; I don't see the problem.&nbsp\\; Have a great day and lighten up bud.

The owner's manual says 5000 miles, so that works for&nbsp\\;me.

For what it's worth, I've moved from the 3,000 mile change to 5,000/10,000 with synthetic. A lot of people in cars and trucks go much longer.

5,000 is what the MoCo says, so that's what I stick with.

5k engine, 10k primary, and 20k transmission, just like the book says.

I use the change intervals recommended in the owners manual.

One reason is that changing the oil too often can actually increase wear. Why? New oil has detergent additives which break down over time, so the oil is formulated with higher than optimal levels when the oil is new, so that they will last for the duration of the expected oil change interval. At the high levels when new, these additives interfere with the effectiveness of some of the anti-wear additives, resulting in increased wear.

I realize that this will sound absurd to some people, but it's what has been learned from actual testing, and published in technical papers from the Society of Automotive Engineers.

Yep. Me to. Except for the primary. It gets pretty grungy by 5K so I usually change it along with the engine oil.

around 5k ,unless i end up riding it in "severe" conditions, like stop and go driving in hot weather , lots of 2 up riding etc. If I get caught in heavy traffic where it gets a lot of heat build up I'll change it a soon as possible. Honestly like other have said , nice long with easy riding , it could go a lot longer with out changing , but as others say relatively cheap piece of mind to change it more than it really needs to be
Another thing to think about is, the fresh oil filter gives me more peace of mind than the fresh oil does most of the time
