Default 5000 mile service today. FYI

Took 55 minutes. (on Independence Day)
&nbsp\\;
Non-synthetic oil. (I change my oil every 2000 miles)
&nbsp\\;
$281 after a 10% discount for being a local VIP.
&nbsp\\;
$195 in labor.
&nbsp\\;
$50 in parts (includes 2 plugs (I hope are installed) and a chrome oil filter)
&nbsp\\;
$19.95 in shop supplies! (WTF?)
&nbsp\\;
Oh, and they washed the cleanest bike they have ever seen.
&nbsp\\;
I asked... how was everything? Reply, "Fine". Me - Did they check all the spokes? Ahhh... nevermind. Here's my credit card, get me outta here.
&nbsp\\;
Ok... that's 3 times... the 1000 mile service, the 3000 fluids change and the 5000.
&nbsp\\;
...from now on, I'll do it myself, thank you. You draw your own conclusions.

Did my 15k service couple weekends ago.&nbsp\\; Took me a little longer than that, but thats cuz I putz around and was interrupted on numerous ocasions to do something for the wife.
&nbsp\\;
Only cost the the price of fluids and a filter.
&nbsp\\;
While I understand a dealer has to make a living, they are charging WAY too much for what is to be done.&nbsp\\; I can understand some folks not wanting to do it themselves, that is their choice... whatever.&nbsp\\; I personally would rather save the multi hundred dollar savings on something else.

My Dealer just charged $140 on the 3rd took 2 hours, seemed like a reasonable price to me for what all they did.

i just did my 15000 mile check.&nbsp\\; no fluid changes as i change them on their proper schedule. anyway, it took me about 2 hours. i look at everything i'm supposed to, and more.&nbsp\\;i really enjoy wrenching my bike and i know that i check and adjust everything with more care than any dealer. i'm a bit **** about things like that. i dont beat up on dealers for making a buck but i think their charges for the scheduled chages are a bit high..\\

Changed my primary and tranny fluid at a little over&nbsp\\;10,000 miles&nbsp\\;last weekend. Took about 30 minutes and cost about $25 for the rubber washers, Amsoil shockproof tranny fluid, Mobil 1 20w50 and a funnel with a flexible plastic tube. I'll probably change the oil in about 1,000 miles since it's been in there for about 4,000 miles now.

Every dealer I have been in posts prices for the regular service intervals, so I imagine you knew what the price would be before you left your bike with them. Why are you bitching now? I agree they charge too much, but you knew that before.

I have done 18 oil changes 4 primary/trans changes and 3 sets of plugs all for under 500 bux with syn oil.Id hate to think of paying the dealer 140 each time.

Yeah you are right. I will do it myself from now on. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
