phlipper what is it set for now stock
I believe stock is 5500 rpm.&nbsp\\;I hit it on mine a few times after the 1000 mile service when out seeing what the new motors would do.&nbsp\\;It sounds very nasty.&nbsp\\; You don't have a problem ... you're just hitting the rev limiter.

You can get the Stage 1 ECM flash for $150 to your box that richens up the mixture a hair (a good thing) and also sets the rev limiter to 6300, if I remember correctly.&nbsp\\;If you're not going to do any work to the engine (cam, porting, boring/bigger pistons, etc) the Stage 1 ECM flash is all you need.&nbsp\\; Don't spend money for the aftermarket fuel devices if you're just going with bigger pipes and air cleaner.

I don't think you're hitting the rev limiter.&nbsp\\; Not at 3/4 throttle in "every gear".
Something else is going on.&nbsp\\; Could be something as simple as a bad spark plug.

So why would they put in a rev limiter of 5500 if the&nbsp\\;engine can take 6250 in the first place? I can see them raising the limit if there was some sort of mechanical change to the engine. But if there are no other changes, why is HD limiting the engine to 5500 stock?
