Default not real happy with the progressive 412s........ 430 or 440 series?

i finally got rid of the stock KROME shocks and got some black standard 412's and the ride seems kind of stiff. i have them on the lowest setting and my wife and i together weigh about 300 lbs. although they don't bottom out like the old ones we definitely feel the bumps more. the wife sez that it actually hurts her back sometimes. I'm thinking i should have saved my $ and got the higher quality Progressives but the next step up is double what i paid for the 412's.
&nbsp\\;\\has any one went with the 430 or 440 series and are they worth the extra $$$
&nbsp\\;\\;i would welcome any recommendations or&nbsp\\;\\\\;experiences on shocks you guys have used to get a smoother ride, keeping in mind that they have to be black.

Just wondering, Did you get the Heavyduty ones? Most people are pleased with the 412s. Any possibility you actually have them on the stiffest sitting instead of the lightest. Just wondering?

Hey XKROME I think some of the Dyna owners have had good luck with the Street Glide/Road King Air Shocks. Might give JRK5892 a shout, he seems to like them if I remember right. I think the Street Glide Shocks are all black but could be wrong. Good luck.

If you want to talk air shocks, definately contact JRK5892 (Joe) the man knows his stuff!
&nbsp\\;
I went with the black Progressive 412's 11 inch, heavy duty.&nbsp\\; I have them set to the stiffest setting in that the bike is lower and I don't want to bottom out, and I do ride two up.&nbsp\\; Combine that with a LePera Bare Bones seat, and yes, I feel the bumps.&nbsp\\; I got rid of an old Triumph hardtail chopper to purchase the new '08 Street Bob and with my setup, well, it isn't that far apart!
&nbsp\\;
You may want to check the settings again as many (if not most) seem to have great luck with the 412's.&nbsp\\; Hell, even I'm not complaining given the setup I've got.&nbsp\\; Maybe you just have to consider it the price of looking cool!

I put the 412's on my Sportster and was less than impressed .
They were better than the stock Sportster shocks....but not much.

Stock shocks on the Fat bob are MUCH better, I have no plans/desire to change them out for after market shocks.

Play with the adjustment for awhile mine actually rides better a few clicks up from the softest setting.The softest setting doesn't leave you much in the way of travel you may actually be bottoming out.

Default RE: not real happy with the progressive 412's 430 or 440 series?

i started out on the second setting then went to the first and noticed very little difference. guess i can try #3. planning on loading up for an overnighter camp out so I'll see how it does with some extra weight.
&nbsp\\;i was kinda hoping to hear from people who have 430's or 440's and if they are worth the extra $$$.
&nbsp\\;not totally opposed to air but i kinda like the look of exposed springs.
