Thanks all for the opinions it really is nice to hear from you all on this. I think I will keep the mids for now and order the forward bars and try them. I guess I can always still install forward controls later then sell the forward bars if I dont like them.

You should be able to find&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;a takeoff set off a Lowrider for about 50 bucks. Depends if you prefer black or chrome.

I am set up with mids controls and Highway pegs, works great with my 30" inseam (ok 29") the pegs can be mounted, up to 4 different positions.
&nbsp\\;
Good luck,&nbsp\\; in whatever you choose

I have had the set up on a handful of FX bikes for the last, (gasp), 28 years and wouldn't do it any other way.&nbsp\\;I generally keep my feet on the mid&nbsp\\;pegs in a variety of positions and will stretch out, typically one leg at a time, for a leg stretch.&nbsp\\;I test rode something with forward controls years ago and was scared to death.&nbsp\\;I was so glad to get back to the dealership without falling over at a stop light I can't tell you.&nbsp\\; I'll quit motorcycling before I give up the mid controls.&nbsp\\; The highway pegs are just icing on the cake.

I just picked up my highway pegs today. All my buddies keep telling me I will want forward controls but I like the mids especially in town. I like the option of having 2 places to put my feet.

I have mids with highway pegs. It's nice to be able to stretch out.

Good decision to stay with mids if you are comfortable riding that way!I just took delivery on a 2008 FXDC and had forwards installed but left the midpegs on for long trips. I really wanted to leave the mid controls on and add highway pegs with the obvious advantage of better control. However, at my height 6' with a 31 or 32 inseam I felt horribly cramped even with the Sundowner seat. I saw an article on this forum with a poll on mids vs forwards and folks were split about 50/50 on mids vs forwards. IMHO I would bet that the folks that are over 6 feet or 31 inch inseams go mostly for the forwards so they can ride comfortably. I would rather have my foot on the brake controls all the time for safety than attempt to become the king of the twisties.
