crossthread flange bolt! Please help
My brother and I went to install the power commander, v&h shortshots and big sucker last night. Could not find a way for the pc3 to fit under the seat, so I attached it to the back of the electric box. then went to putting on the shortshots. the front head pipe went on like a glove. However, somehow we crosstread the rear flange bolt and all of the nuts to put on the bike.
What are my options now? Can we cut the bolt down to where the crossthread is? Do we have to take the bolt out and how hard is that?
Everything was going so good until that last bolt. Luckily my wife was asleep and didn't hear all the curses I gave that stinkin bolt.
Thanks for any imput and I will TRY to figure out getting pics of the finished project once the bolt is taken care of.

RE: crossthread flange bolt! Please help
I had to replace one of the exhaust studs on my 94 LowRider. I think I was able to double nut it andit came out easy enough. If yours is cross threaded that might be a bigger problem. One of these might help. http://www.nextag.com/stud-remover/search-html
Just be slow and easy applying force to remove the stud.
Your HD Dealer should be able to sell you a replacement and new nuts to go with it. Double nut it and maybe use hi temp loctight to install it.
