There are hundreds of posts out there....

And I'm not gonna get into the "don't use syn in the primary" stuff. Dude, it works fine, syn is what H-D recommends..

dymamite 17 do you know all the position of the drain wholes? and the torque specs? the primary cover was the bitch for me,
they didn't sell me the frisbee gasket from the dealership which is what i needed so i reused the frisbee bike only has 2800 miles on it,
and the primary must be filled with the bike standing up level,
i had to do a trick with a 2x4 and a bottle jack, don't ask? but it was level

does your fat bob have the 96inch and the six speed?
Yes I know the position of all 3 holes from my Owners Manual and the Service Manual. I have changed the derby (primary cover) twice and re-used the frisbee the second time as it looked fine (although I did buy a new one). No problems.

I do not remember the torque specs, again I got them from the Service Manual. I do use a calibrated torque wrench.

My bike is an 07 Low Rider.

I have been running HD Shockproof in the tran, just changed out after 5000 and what a waste
If you mean Redline Shockproof heavy then that oil will go 20,000 miles minimum in the trans. If you want an easily available gear oil for your trans go to an auto parts store and get valvoline 75w90 or 85w140 GL5 rated dino gear oil and run it 15,000 miles.

I’m doing the 1000 mile service on my 2008 Fat Bob; it’s my first bike so my knowledge is low.

What is better synthetic or non and does synthetic effect the warranty?

What is a good brand and weight for the trans and primary? Are they the same fluid.
RUn Synthetic or Dino , What ever you feel good about but remember one thing... If you change from theFormula + in your primary. DO NOT run Detergent Motor Oil in your primary. IT is hard on the clutches.Make sure you use non-detergent oil in the primary otherwise stick with Formula +

Amsoil severe gear 75w-110 in the tranny,Universal synthetic ATF in the primary. The lighter syn atf works great with the hd wet clutch and carries away heat from the stator,a big plus.
