Front Caliper Smelled HOT
Coming down asteep mountain two up, following string of cars using the front brake to slow me down a bit. I have an 08 Low Rider with about 750 miles on it. I don't use the front brake all that much but I wanted to see how it would do. That thing started to smell so hot I thoughtI was following a tractor trailer with hot brakes but it was me. It didn't feel likeit was working all that well either. It slowed me butnot like the metric front brakes that want to throw you over the bars.It also makes a whining noise when the brake is applied.I checked it after I got off the mountain and it didn't feel that hot and the rotor looks good. Nohot spotcolors or ridges on it. I can't image this is normal. Any ideas?

Get rid of the fading, dust making HD pads and try these:

RE: Front Caliper Smelled HOT
I have never used my front brake enough to heat it up that much. You should alternate braking between front and rear or use both at the same time if the road is that steep. The Lyndell brakes really are that much better than Harleys brakes. Superior stopping with almost no brake dust. Congrats on the new bike and welcome aboard.
