Default Gear indicator

Anyone have one of these? http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd496.htm
If so, what is required to install it?
Any opinions? Good idea? Worth the money?
Not worth it?

I always work out where I am on the gear box when the gear leaver won't move to either a higher or lower gear!

If the engine isn't labouring/racing does it matter which gear its in. Had one of these on a GS550 once - really just not worth it.

How about this - http://www.motogadget.com/en/frameset.html- no digital gear indicator though which would have been nice. I did have a similar one on my old Honda CB1300F - http://www.elitemotorcycleservices.co.uk/page40.html- which I found to be really useful as it was so high reving because as I am over 50 I could never remember which gear I was in.

I understand that everyone is saying, listen to the revs or watch your tach, and I can upshift on the sound of the engine, but I just think that this would be a good idea when downshifting before a turn to make sure you aren't lugging the engine or hit 2nd or worse 1st and run the revs up too high before a turn.
I seem to remember someone stating that it would be a good idea for the MOCO to include all the gears, not just 6th in the display. I was just looking to see if yall thought it was worth the $ for downshifting?????????

Being honest if you want one get one - I am sure you will get a wide variety ofopinions. I found it useful on my Honda, but would never put one on a Harley as for me it would look out of place. If I was going to spend the money now I'd get one of these combo speedos / tachos - http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US- and ride using the rev counter rather than a gear indicator.
