There must have been a jet engineer on the design team at Harley when they came up with the Street Bob.

The older i get the slower i ride and the more i enjoy it. Over 70 on a Bob with no windshield is more work than fun. I do like takin' off quick now and then and runnin' it through the gears...but most times you all will be passin' me as i putt along at 45-55 just happy to be ridin'...i think i've gotten all the "go-fast all the time" out of my system...along with a sense of mortality....

with the six speed now its just to easy to be doing 90 by the time you get on the freeway/motorway and like people have said, Dynas seem to like sitting at 85 - 95 in 6th. I dont find the whole wind thing an issue, i am with Cornbread on this one, unless your heading into a strong breaze then its tough. - pete

The thing that contributed the most to my speeding up was ear plugs. I ride 60 miles a day highway with my new job, and find it a lot more comfortable with the plugs in. Since i don't have the fierce wind noise in my ears, I have looked down and noticed the speedo registering 20+ over the alloted limit of speed more than a few times. I really can't afford a speeding ticket, or insurance rate hike, so I try not to speed. Driving home at midnight, after 2nd shift, its just so much more relaxing doing 65 than 85.

I find the speed I go is pretty much proportional to what I'm riding at the time.

I don't really care what everyone else is doing speed wise and I pretty much do my own thing. I don't filter unless the traffic is going slow and when I do its at a safe speed so I can react if a car changes lane unexpectedly. I follow the speed limits in built up areas and tend to go at whatever the prevailing speed is on the motorways, so if it moving steadily at 75 / 80 mph that's how fast I'll go. My aim is to enjoy my hobby and get where ever I am going safely and not stressed.

I'm guilty of this also. Just like going fast I guess. I have a mess of speeding tickets over the years to prove it. Taking off the windshield is a great way to slow you down.

Honestly, I feel safer going 75-80 on the Hwy in Atlanta. I try to drive the same way I do in my truck rather than change habits andput myself in different situations (lanes). As a matter of fact, I did slow down and ride in the right half of the road just this past Monday. Got cut off once and watched the truck in front of me drag his rear wheels on a concrete barrier in the construction zone. Both were semi's.. I dont see that in the "fast" lane. I'm one of the few that I see riding up there and I'm typically faster than the other bikes. And, I'm on an EVO. The bike doesnt miss a beat and like others say, seems to beg me to GO! when I get on the Hwy. On back roads and side streets, 60-70MPH is a beautiful thing.

I bought the HD Profile Goggles at the dealer and ordered prescription lenses for them. They are transition lenses so they change from clear to dark as needed.

They also have a snap-in frame that is foam lined so they seal around the eyes.

Works great for me.
+1 except mine aren't transitional.

As for speed, I like 65-70 with either windshield/half helmet/t-shirt or no windshield/full helmet /jacket. No windshield/half helmet= slower. Most of my riding is on back roads BTW.

I'm with you C.B. 80-90 is a good cruzing speed even without the windshield. Wind is only a problem at the beginning of the riding season, before you get your muscles back in shape. Any faster than 90 though and the contact patch gets to be pretty small. It's just whatever floats your boat.
