I found a chrome one from V-Twin that's only $40. It's 9-3/4" long.

Based on the two parts lists that were posted earlier in this thread, does the following look like what you'd need to put the boards on without the forward shifter hardware?

Here's a pic of the bike these boards actually came on. Dig that seat!

A few corrections according the J01921 leaflet:
1. parts you don't need:
7710W (is used to secure the stock shifter rod to the crankcase)
7736 (is used to mount the new shifter rod to the new shifter lever)
7744 (is used to mount the new shifter rod to the gearbox shifter lever)
2. part which is missing in the list:
33711-02 prake pedal
3. according the FXDP parts catalog the footboard assembly (P/N 50632-85) comes
without the footboard pad (P/N 50614-91A). If you want to, you can skip these pads
and buy other (multi-fit inserts)
Kind regards, René

The variety of foot postions with boards is a big plus, especially with highway pegs.

BTW- I have forwarded this thread to a whole bunch of guys asking about boards...best one I've seen. Good work, Keeg!
Can you post a picture of the left side of bike? Which shifter did you use - needs to be a lot longer than the stock one. Thanks

Thanks, René. I actually noticed I didn't have the brake pedal on there after I posted the list.

Pockets2000 sent me the pdf file of J01921 and I've uploaded it to one of my web sites. You can download it by clicking here.

Hey Guys,

Since my original post, I have changed the shifter configuration as well.

I added an extended lever from Bubba's Brake as my heel shift. This came in at just under 10" long and provided the most clearance on the footboard. I was going to try to go from the mid spline with this shifter, but found it wasn't long enough to provide ample clearance on the board. By my measure you would need a shifter approx 12" to feel comfortable to go this route.

For my toe shift, I cut down the stock shifter and adjusted accordingly. Just need to slot it to match the rear. Also adjusted the heel shift to sit just above the board so it is very minimal foot lift to upshift.

I also have the parts list pdf file I can email if anyone needs it.

I think that's true if you want the shifter peg to be in approx the same position it is if you were to use the shift bracket hardware that comes with the kit. I think the stock shifter, or a slightly longer one, will work just fine if you adjust it up on the splines and position your foot back on the board just for shifting.
