moco wants to squeeze every penny out of the cost of their bikes. i believe if they thought the belt guard wasn't necessary, it wouldn't be there. it costs them to manufacture it, install it, and remove/reinstall during warranty work. it's certainly not there for looks!

My thinking is that the lower belt guard is cheezy lookin',chromed or other wise and I doubt it offers much protection from flying debris. It would depend on which way the rock was flying since it only protects the outer edge of the belt.

My cover has been off for about ten thousand miles and some of those sleasy beer joints out in the county that we hit on poker runs have nothing but gravel and dirt on their parking lots. No problems so far and I just like the look a lot better.

Good Luck

Tom

I would leave it and the chrome ones or thestock ones don't look that bad. Its there to protect the belt last time I checked its an important part of the bike running correctly.
