Opinions on S&S Carbs?
I need help! I have a 2003 Dyna Low Rider. When it was first purchased, I had the dealer put drag pipes on and rejet the carb. IT rangood for about the 1st 2k miles and then it started to pop thru the carb and backfire thru the pipes when you let off the gas. I took it back to the dealer and they basically did nothing and sent me on my way. I bought an aftermarket jet kit and did it myself. It runs better, but still backfires thru the carb on occasion. Someone told me to put an S&S Super E on it and it will cure all my problems. Any info or opinions will help.
Thanks

I run an S&S on my choppper, I think it is one of the simplest to tune, the main jet is easily removed thruthe drain on the bottom, the accelerator pump is easy to adjust. Some say it's not as good as others at low rpm, but the smooth acceleration and top end are great. I highly recomend it for any HD.

Did you remove the plug on the bottom of the carb(upside down it is the tallestpoint on the carb)? That is where your air/fuel mix adjustment is. I had to open mine up about 1/3 of a complete turn to get the popping to disapear. Plugs look good and pipes are anice shade of gtray, hope this helps. Dave...

+2 on baffles, and you may want to try some power cones for about 15 bucks. However:
Don't know know about the S&S, but my Mikuni is awesome, much better throttle response and no more popping at all. You can get them for about $250 from Jireh Cycles and the 42mm bolts strait on to the TC88 intake and uses the existing choke cable. It also has an on the go idle adjuster which is great for warming it up.
