don't have a service guide so i need torque specs for the drain plugs, i am going to switch to synthetic probably mobil1 15 w 50
i have an 07 streetbob 96 cube aren't there three fluids to change and do i have to do them all at the same time, and can i use the same synthetic in all three holes?

can i get an aftermarket filter off the shelf somwhere or do i have to go straight to the dealership?,

I'm not sure there is a right answer to your question. Here's what I do.........I alway keep a HD oil filter on the shelf they're like $9 no big deal. Run a name brand Syn in the engine, I run Mobile 1 20W50. I run the same 20W50 in the primary. Then I run a gear lube in the Trans. right now it's Mobile 1 75W90, but I just got some Redline ShockProof Heavy so I'll be switching to that for a while. I like keeping my oil clean so I change the engine and filter every 2500 and the trans. and primary every 5000 or so.

Only thing I can think of to mention is that the oil plug is not on the bottom, it is on the SIDE...and in exactly, precisely the least convenient place possible. The filter, too, is inconveniently placed, but easy enough to remove and install.

Do yourself a favor and get a service manual. It will save you lots of $$ and aggravation. Try Zanotti's or Chicago HD on line. Less than $50.

All 3 holes take the same hex head or socket, either one. They all have a magnet built in to collect shavings. They all also have an o-ring, which you will need to replace. The crank drain is on the side of the pan, the trany is on the bottom and of course the primary is on the the primary. You will need to get a filter from the dealer so grab the o-rings while you're there, don't use any off the wall brands even if you find a match. You can use the same in all 3 holes but I don't. I use 20-50 in crank, 10-40 in primary and 75-90 in trany, all Amsoil Syn and I use their filter also #EAOM134. Here's a tip for draining the crank....cut a 2 liter pop bottle lenghtwise and slip it under the filter before you remove it...the oil will run thru it instead of all over the engine. Torque is 14-21 for the plugs. Crank capacity is 3 qt, primary 1 qt., trany 1 qt.

Great idea with the cut bottle. I'll be using that next time.

DO NOT use thread locker like lock-tite on your plugs! It eats the o-rings!
(ask me how I know.....)

Crank capacity for and oil change is only 2.5 qts. You'll only need to refill 3 qts. on a new engine build.

I just changed my fluids for the first time last Friday night and it sucked up 3 quarts just fine. Maybe because mine is an older model? I dunno...

Must be, alot changed in '06. The service manual clearly says 2.5 qts. on a wet change.
