Default 92 Lowrider turn signal relay

I just bought my first (classic) Harley, a 1992 fxrs lowrider, I love the bike, however the turn signals were removed by the previous owner. I found the wires, butI cant locate the flasher relay. I just have constant power and no flash?
Anybody know where it might be located?

Thanks for any help.

I'm far from an expert, but I have a '92 Dyna and went through the same thing. The previous owner removed the signals and the dealer had a bitch of a time getting everything back on and working (I'm positive the guy working on my bike was incompetent.) I bitched and bitched that it took them 2 weeks and they finally put the top mechanic on it. He got it done in 1 day. lol...

Anyway, there's a turn signal module under the seat on my bike that had to be replaced. I think that's why the previous owner removed the signals in the first place, but I'm not sure. It's a black box about the size of an old Beta video tape or something. I think it was $150 or around there to replace it. The dealer had one.

Not sure if the FXR is the same, but maybe...

Sgt Thump is correct. I used to have a 92 FXDC just like his. The turn signal relay is under the seat. I still havemy old Service Manual for the 92 Dyna. If you'd like it, I can mail it to you. Send me a PM with your name and address.

If the original poster doesn't want that service manual, I'd buy it from you. Is it the HD one? I have a Clymer version, but wouldn't mind having the real HD manual.

Thanks for the help guys, I guess the modual is missing, nothing under the seat but the wires.
No black box to be found.
I'll have to stop at Harley this weekend and piece it back together.

Righteous, pm sent

Franko!

Do you have the indicators installed yet?

On my bike You will get a constant power light on the dash when ya hit the signal switch. You won't get any flash until you hook up the lights. You have to have the rear and the opposing front indicator on each side hooked up before it will work. You got to close the circuit in order to get them to flash. Not sure if your year has the old style flahser unit or a flasher module. Pull the cover on the fuse box. If you have a flasher module it will be mounted to the left side. 3 or so inches long 2 inch wide and a 1/2 inch thick.

CSA, I have a distibution block on the left side, and I have what looks to be what your describing, on the right side just above the master cylinder reservoir. Im not sure if that is it or not? sais screaming eagle on it.
I found 4 wires next to the battery taped up, 2 pos, and 2 grounds. with a test light I get constant power when I hit the left/right turn switch, but no blink. maybe I have to hook all 4 indicators up like you suggest first and see what happens.
Thanks for your input

Yeah Franko!

Do a quick hotwire with the indicators and see if they flash. If not then you'll know. No need to buy parts if ya don't need'em! Sounds like the wires you found are for the rear. Each rear has a pos and a neg. The rear use a single pole bulb. They only come on to flash. The fronts usally have three wires a peice. Ground, Flash and Constant power. They use a 2 pole bulb like a tail light. Search around the neck area and see if you can find spliced wires.

ok I found the flash modual, it was behind the other box (screaming eagle)? currently the bike has no indicators on it at all. the rear ones were turned into L.E.D. brakelights, and the original brake light is now just a L.E.D. tail light. no front indicators at all.
Im gonna have to go out this weekend and buy all four, and do the old trial and error thing untill I get them to work.
I'll look for the front wires, they might be stuffer under the gauges somewhere?
