fuel additives?
Lately, with the gas prices skyrocketing, it 's getting harder to get pure 91 octane gas from the pump. I know most of it stems from the cheapo regular left in the hose from the last user, which means I'm paying more for garbage gas than I ought to. Here in Socal, we dont have the luxury of having separate hoses for the different grades.
I was wondering if anyone has tried fuel additives, or does everyone put up with the knocking and pinging and hope they get better juice at the next stop?

Good stuff here: http://www.cal-products.com/rocketfuel.html
I keep one in my tool bag in case I get bad gas somewhere. I think any of the additives will end up costing you more than just getting premium up front.

Hmmm Rocket Fuel.....
Youre right, the price of the additive exceeds the cost of the fuel.
I had a situation this weekend where I had to run a hundred miles of coughing, spitting, and sputtering before I had enough room to stick better gas in and smooth it out.
I had to ask the question because some vehicle manufacturers advise against additives because the engines arent designed for them. Last thing I want to do is blow the heads off.

Rocket fuel runs about 45 cents a gallon based on 3gallons of gas, now high test is about 30 to 35 cents more here in pa so its better then buying the 91 oct with old gas , water , and god only knows what else and screwing up the fuel system in your bike, plus having all that spiting and jerking that the bad fuel will give you and then I hear this from the OL. Hope your happy," you had to buy a harley again."

RE: fuel additives?
Shell and Exxon both sell 93 octane around here.
As for the single hose, 87 octane being the first part of your fill-up.
1 quart 87 octane + 11 quarts 91 octane (three gallon fill-up) gets you 90.67 octane. Hardly a big deal. If you bike runs bad after a fill-up, you got bad gas, I doubt what's left in the hose has anything to do with it.
