Is the Street Bob the new version of the fxdx super glide sport? If so what do you guys think would be better for a first bike. used fxdx or new fxdb.

Sorry for all the retarded questions, im just a newbie

Not even remotely. The FXDX had taller suspension and cast tubeless wheels for handling and ground clearance. The bob is a low rider with spoke wheels and tube tires. I would buy the bob just for the newer and better-looking frame, myself.

No, the streetbob isn't the new version of the great FXDX. How I wish it was, but it isn't.However, the streetbob can be made into a very well handling bike with some careful modifications. Never as good as the FXDX was, but still a great handler if done right. I just bought a new 08 Bob and I must admit that I'm pretty impressed with it in it's stock form, but it needs a lot of tweaking to bring it up to speed. The MoCo did some very strange things in 08 to the FXDB.
For one, they integrated the risers into the trees....horrible idea. I bought a set of used 07 trees off of ebay so I can change my bars out to the super tall tbars that I run on my bikes. The front end can be upgraded with new internals. Race tech makes a great product, but I have to contact them to see if they're making them for the 49mm frontends yet. The next upgrade will be switching the rear shocks out to Progressive 440's. These are great shocks, both for ride and handling purposes. Works also makes a great quality product. Sorry, but I'm passionate about well handling dynas. I guess my answer to your question would be, for the money, you won't be able to beat a well taken care of FXDX...if you can find someone that will part with it!! Good luck.

My FXDXT is my 10th or so bike; looked for nearly 6 months to find a clean one but it was worth it to me. Depends on what you want the bike to be for you; I had it all mapped out before I found mine and now it's basically done the way I want. You should figure out what you want before you buy...a Fat Bob with some upgrades would be a nice ride; one I'd consider if I didn't already have mine...

Do you think they will ever bring back the FXDX? And anyone know why it was discontinued?

Poor sales. Most of the people that really want handling in a Harley are reading this thread right now...all5 of us. It would take HD longer to set-up and re-set the assembly line than it would take to make all the Sport Dyna's that they would sell...not to mention find some engineering time to design stuff you can't see ie "handling" as opposed to stuff that screams through the showroom window as you walk by ie paint and chrome...
Lucky for me (and others...) there are lots of used low mile bikes out there that are now really cheap and a huge aftermarket to supply whatever your wallet desires.....

2002fxdp: I know you told me what you had for a front fender, I couldn't find it...would you mind telling me where you got it??? Maybe you did and I forgot...serious cabin fever setting in up here...

When we did the build-up on my bike (103) it wasn't much more to bare the frame after the motor was out for the crank change, so off to the painter it went with the tin...
