I hear a "tinking" sound. it's the keychain flapping in the wind.
It was driving me bonkers till I actually saw it flipping and heard the sound at the same time.

Top end on these things are normally a bit noisy. Need to isolate the ticking noise - is it top end or bottom end, etc.?

See if your headlight is loose, I had the same problem and it turned out the rivets that hold the light housing to the mounting bracket were a little loose. I drilled 2 of them out and used some short panhead screws and nuts with loctite and no more ticking!.

Mine sounds like my mother's old console Singer Sewing Machine did back in the 1970's.

She didn't pay $4.09 for Premium Unleaded like I did today. Dayyyyyumm.

Pretty sure my carbed 04 WG is ticking because of valvetrain noise - at least that's what I think...From what folks here say and from the thing not flying apart the past 2 years, I would think it's normal. It's definately top end noise though - bottom end noise is heavier and generally signals impending doom...

Nothing loose on my body flapping in the wind, or loose headlight or A/C, it'scoming from the left side of thebike. I think it's louder when the bike is cold and just started? I'm not too worried about it though. Like the tech said, if it stops making noise, then you have something to worry about.

Left side here too - top end, left side. WG doesn't use a key when running so I know it's not that...maybe it's my gremlin bell

I'm sitting in a quiet room right now and I hear a whining noise and strange voices and I'm sober!

It's probably the valve train, as in rocker end play you are hearing. Harmless noise.
